Paul is a writer from the South Wales Valleys with a 16-year career in the charity sector, working with people with learning disabilities.
His TV movie ‘Double Trouble’ entered production in 2024 for Reel One Entertainment. In 2020 he won the European Independent Film Festival’s Best Screenplay Award for his spec ‘Bridge by the Earthen House’. He was a finalist at the Sitcom Trials Grand Final at the Edinburgh Festival in 2016 and in 2015 was part of the CBBC New Voices Initiative and the BAFTA Rocliffe Forum List.
In 2018 Paul gained his first broadcast commission and credit with ‘A Hidden Portrait’ a short documentary for BBC Wales. It told the story of a man who spent fifty-five years living in an institution for people with a learning disability.
Paul’s work often mixes warm, Welsh humour with serious issues and he is passionate about representing the people of Wales on-screen authentically.

6x60min TV drama. A young couple with learning disabilities fall pregnant and must fight the unfair assessment process and their own families to keep their child, whilst their advocate wrestles with her down’s syndrome-positive pregnancy.
DUNRAVEN

4×60 min TV drama. Many people were born in a hospital, some will die there. For most of the twentieth century people with a learning disability were forced to eat, sleep, live and love in them too. Dunraven is set in 1970s Wales amidst the backdrop of economic and social turbulence. It’s about the lives of staff and patients at an institution for people with a learning disability.
