He broke into scriptwriting winning the Sony/Guardian Short Film Script competition judged by Spike Jonze, with black comedy “Mum’s Ashes”. He filmed and directed it and it was screened at Curzon, Hoxton.
Subsequently he applied to the BBC New Writers Initiative and was accepted to pitch for BBC drama “Doctors”. He has written 27 episodes.
Miles has written pilots for amateur detective series “Brooke & River” set on the UK canal system, and “Anton Pillar”, a family drama focused on a small legal practice in Portsmouth.
He is currently writing feature horror script “Slit” and thriller “Utter Kunst” set in the art world. He has devised a factual entertainment series based, in part, on his experiences as a prison art teacher.
Miles has a degree in Fine Art (sculpture) from Liverpool Art College, has exhibited widely including New York and London, and has a 2.5 ton bronze commission “Arm Wrestler” on permanent display on Gun Wharf Quays, Portsmouth.
