Jordon Scott Kennedy is a working-class, multi-award-winning writer and director working across drama and comedy in both film and television. His work champions character-driven stories that amplify underrepresented voices.
His debut feature Suicide Kelly (2023), made on a £10,000 microbudget, won Best Picture and Best Director at the BAFTA-accredited British Urban Film Festival. His Channel 4 short Youthless was praised by Jimmy McGovern—who called Jordon “a tremendous talent with a great future”—and was later optioned by Rollem Productions as a six-part series. He subsequently signed with Imagine Talent.

Jordon wrote and directed Blood’s Thicker, a youth-led stage production marking the arrival of the Knife Angel in Bradford. Credited by the council with a rise in weapon hand-ins, the piece was adapted for screen in 2024, with a sequel now in development.

He is currently developing two feature films with Nickie Sault at Class 5 Productions. His BBC short comedy Rocket Fuel—winner of Bradford 2025’s Forge Fund and Slick Films’ Grand Prize—will premiere on BBC Three in May 2025. He recently completed Dynamite Dealer, his first BFI-backed short, and is developing a new comedy with Tiger Aspect.
As Creative Lead at The Unit, Jordon supports emerging filmmakers in Bradford, contributing to a 180% rise in short film production over two years. He is also the founder of the Five Minute Film Club, which has produced over 250 no-budget shorts and recently launched its first festival to bridge grassroots talent with industry access.

Through his company Idle Work Factory, he runs a SIGN-backed free film school—now a national case study for inclusive recruitment—and teaches at MetFilm School Leeds, focused on building sustainable, accessible routes into the screen industry.
