Amy is a screenwriter who grew up in West Cork, Ireland. After completing a master’s degree in Scriptwriting at Goldsmiths University of London in 2018, she wrote her debut short film, Sequins, which follows an ambitious teenager in 90’s Blackpool with dreams of becoming a drag queen.

Sequins was backed by the Genera Film Fund and the Stefan Allesch-Taylor fund. It screened at twenty-four festivals worldwide, including BAFTA-qualifying Norwich Film Festival (UK), Oscar-qualifying Edmonton Film Festival (Canada), and the renowned Inside Out LGBTQ+ Film Festival in Toronto. The film won three awards for Best Short Film and received several other nominations, including Best Screenplay. It was well-received by both the LGBTQ+ community and mainstream audiences.

Recently, Amy received funding from the Irish Emigrant Support Fund through the Irish Embassy to develop a theatre piece based on the stories of Irish men during the AIDS crisis. Additionally, her supernatural series, The Witches of West Cork, co-written with her writing partner Michael Beddoes, has gained recognition over the past year, sparking interest from several production companies.

Amy’s original Irish comedy series and pilot script, Down West, advanced through the first round of the 2021 Sundance Institute Episodic Lab. Her work has also placed as a quarterfinalist in the ScreenCraft Film Fund (2018) and the Scriptapalooza Screenplay Competition (2019) with a feature film script.

She is currently developing a comedy pilot about bisexual women over 40, a project that reflects her own experiences as a bisexual writer.

In addition to her film work, Amy is a member of the Craft Services Network, a global community of emerging screenwriters and writer-directors aiming to launch their creative careers. She was also part of the BFI NETWORK x BAFTA Crew in 2021.
